Back to the office! Perhaps not…
Many companies have most likely been holding out on making any meaningful, permanent change to their current business process pending a return to normal office based working, but with the government announcements towards the end of September, it appears home working is here to stay.
Most companies always had the capacity to support remote workers on an occasional rota but not on the scale currently required and some business processes have been temporarily adjusted / worked around rather than fully addressed for a dispersed workforce.
For example, your customer service shared mailbox – allocating one person to coordinate the archival / task assignment of each received message can take a significant portion of their working day – what if that person didn’t need to perform these organisational pieces? What if the business platform did all that up front – split out attachments, captured data content from pages, recognised document types and assigned work tasks to the relevant personnel? You could be looking at freeing up a large percentage of employee time to address the content of tasks assigned, not just manage the admin!
